In The Ring Two, Rachel is required to investigate the past of Samara Morgan following the death of her son who is diagnosed with a mysterious ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller as an investigative reporter is contacted by her sister Ruth to investigate the mysterious reasons behind Katie's death. Rachel is told by Ruth, her sister, that she discovered Katie's deformed body in the closet. She also revealed that Katie died from a heart attack. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the legend surrounding the cursed videotape , and also that Becca Katie's close friend was institutionalized after witnessing Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend, along with two of her best friends, all died in mysterious accidents that happened on the same night , at 10:30 pm. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. This is the cabin one in which Katie and her friends saw the tape that had been cursed. Rachel finds the tape and plays it. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is referred to Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel finds out later that Aidan, Noah's son, observed the tape and believed that Noah was calling her. He tells Rachel that Noah believes Rachel. Rachel goes through the tape in order in order to determine the exact location of the lighthouse. It was located on Moesko Island. Anna Morgan is a cursed horse breeder, appeared on the tape. Rachel discovered that Anna was the mother of an adopted child named Samara who was capable of burning disturbing images into the bodies and minds of humans, animals as well as objects. Rachel meets Anna's widower Richard however, he takes her go when she begins to ask questions about Samara.
